La selezione genetica, riassumendo, è un processo atto ad esaltare alcune caratteristiche predilette dall’allevatore all’interno di una data popolazione.
Sovente, nella mia breve vita ornitologica, mi è capitato, girando per allevamenti locali, o su internet, di discutere coi miei colleghi più o meno giovani del significato di questa parola. Alcuni miei interlocutori, si riferivano alla selezione in termini di fenotipo escludendo categoricamente che fosse possibile parlare di altri tipi di selezione. Al fine di creare ceppi con certe caratteristiche, scelte dall’allevatore stesso in base a ciò che più lo aggrada, mi viene in mente una fantasiosa soluzione: anche qui si potrebbe pensare di carpire alla canaricoltura l’iter, il patrimonio di conoscenze, di metodologie, che hanno comportato la nascita dell’attuale canarino domestico e delle sue razze. E’vero, infatti, che alcune razze di canarini sono più rustiche di altre, altre esprimono meglio il canto, altre ancora meglio il colore… E perché non partire da questa esperienza pregressa per direzionare il nostro lavoro in allevamento evitando gli errori passati; il tutto con la fortuna di poter verificare, facendo some similarities, as of now, immediately, what will result?
